Nautical Term: ITC

Definition of ITC

The International Tonnage Certificate (ITC) is an official document issued by the competent maritime authority, confirming the gross and net registered tonnage of a ship. The ITC is essential for international trade and maritime operations. For instance, when a cargo vessel arrives at the port of discharge, the port authorities will require the master of the vessel to present the ITC, as proof of the vessel’s registered tonnage, before being allowed to discharge the cargo.
