Net tonnage refers to the volume in cubic feet that a ship is capable of carrying when fully loaded with cargo and passengers. This measurement is used to determine the size and carrying capacity of ships.

For example, a ship with a net tonnage of 1000 tons is capable of carrying 1000 tons of cargo and passengers when fully loaded.
