Definition of PFG

A ‘Piracy Focus Group’ (PFG) is a specialized assembly of individuals with expertise and experience in combating piracy at sea. Members of a PFG may include representatives from national navies, coast guards, maritime security companies, insurance underwriters, shipping lines, and port authorities.

As an example, during a regional maritime security conference, a ‘Piracy Focus Group’ was established to discuss the latest trends, tactics, and techniques being used by pirates in the region. Members of the PFG shared their expertise and experiences, and brainstormed potential solutions to address the piracy threat in the region.
