Definition of Rudder
A rudder is a large, flat, swinging frame that is attached to the stern post of a ship. The rudder functions as the primary means by which a ship is steered.
For example, as the captain of a large cargo ship, I would be responsible for ensuring that the ship stays on course during its voyage. To accomplish this task, I would use the rudder of the ship to make small adjustments to the ship’s course, keeping it on track and ensuring a safe and successful voyage for the cargo ship and its crew.
