Definition of SECA
The Sulphur (SOx) Emission Control Area, often referred to as SECA, is a designated maritime region where stricter sulphur oxide emissions limits are enforced. For example, in the North Sea SECA, ships must comply with a 0.10% m/m sulphur content limit in their fuel, effective from January 1, 2015.
