A skipper, also referred to as the master or captain, is the person in charge of a vessel at sea or on inland waters. They are responsible for the safety of the crew, passengers, and vessel. Here’s an example: During a storm at sea, the skipper orders all crew members to secure the vessel’s sails and cargo. The skipper also assesses the damage sustained by the vessel and communicates with the Coast Guard if necessary.
