Nautical Term: Tripping brackets

Definition of Tripping brackets

Tripping brackets are additional reinforcing bars, typically in the form of flat bars, which are securely affixed at various points on a deck girder or beams, to enhance their structural integrity.

For instance, in the process of constructing a large cargo ship, the engineers and shipbuilders may install tripping brackets at strategic locations along the length of the deck girder or beams. By providing these additional reinforcements, the structural strength of the ship’s deck is significantly enhanced, enabling it to safely and efficiently transport large volumes of cargo over long distances at sea.
