Nautical Term: Not under command
Definition of Not under command
Not under command (NUC) is a term used to describe a vessel that is incapable of being maneuvered or steered effectively. For instance, consider a large container ship that suddenly experiences a catastrophic engine failure. Due to the ship’s massive size and weight, it may no longer be maneuverable or under the command of its crew. In such a situation, the ship would be considered to be Not under command.
