Nautical Term: VPD

Definition of VPD

Vessel Pays Dues refers to a vessel’s obligation to pay harbor or port fees. These fees may include charges for mooring, electricity, water, and other services.

For example, a captain who intends to dock his vessel at a busy port for several days must first ensure that he has paid all the necessary fees to the port authorities. If the captain fails to pay these fees on time, he may be denied entry to the port or face other penalties.
