Nautical Term: Wing brackets
Definition of Wing brackets
Wing brackets, also referred to as deep bracket knees, bilge brackets, or margin brackets, are metal brackets that secure the margin plates to the lower frame ends of a ship or boat. (Nautical Terminology)
For instance, during the maintenance of an old wooden boat, the margin plates on the lower frame ends might need replacement due to decay or damage. To secure the new margin plates, wing brackets would be used, attaching the margin plates to the lower frame ends with the wing brackets serving as the connection point.
