Nautical Term: After body

Definition of After body

The ‘after body’ of a ship refers to the portion located aft (behind) the midpoint of the ship’s length, which is typically considered the point of demarcation between the forward and after parts of the ship. For example, when plotting a ship’s course, navigators would take the after body into account to determine the overall direction of the ship.
