Nautical Term: BNWAS
Definition of BNWAS
The Bridge Navigational Watch Alarm System, commonly abbreviated as BNWAS, is an essential safety feature on modern ships. It automatically alerts the bridge team if there are any significant deviations from the planned course or if there are any critical navigation or communication alarms. For instance, if the ship strays more than 15 degrees from its planned heading, the BNWAS will emit an alarm to alert the bridge team.
