Nautical Term: DDU

Definition of DDU

Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU) is a term used in international shipping and trade. When goods are delivered DDU, it signifies that the seller has fulfilled their obligations by delivering the goods to the agreed destination. However, the buyer is still responsible for paying the customs duties and taxes.

For instance, suppose a German company exports electronic appliances worth €10,000 to a US buyer. The goods are shipped from Germany to the US port and are delivered DDU to the US buyer. The US buyer is now responsible for paying the customs duties and taxes on the imported goods.
