Definition of DLOSP

Dropping Last Outwards Sea Pilot (DLOSP), also known as the Norwegian Sea Pilot, refers to the practice of a ship leaving the pilot station, discarding the services of the pilot who brought the ship safely up to that point. This procedure ensures a new pilot is embarked for the next leg of the journey.

For example, in a shipping log entry from January 2023: Ship: MV Nordic Wind; Position: 60°20′ N, 011°35′ E; Date: January 22, 2023; Dropping Last Outwards Sea Pilot (DLOSP) – Norwegian Sea Pilot; New pilot embarked for the next leg of the journey.
