Nautical Term: Forefoot

Definition of Forefoot

The forefoot refers to the forwardmost point on a vessel’s stem. This part of the vessel is where the stem meets the keel, providing support and stability to the vessel as it navigates through the water.

For example, in a race between two sailboats, the boat with a stronger forefoot, able to cut through the water more effectively, will likely have an advantage in speed and agility, making it an essential factor for sailors to consider when optimizing their vessel’s performance.
