Nautical Term: Gang board

Definition of Gang board

A gang board is a long, narrow, floating platform, designed to provide temporary access between ships or between a ship and the shore. The term gang board is interchangeable with gang plank, although the latter term is more commonly used in contemporary nautical parlance.

For instance, during a refueling operation at sea, a gang board might be employed to allow the transfer of fuel between ships while minimizing the risk of personnel injury or damage to the vessels involved.
