Definition of GN (or GR)

Grain, also referred to as capacity, represents the amount of cargo or other materials that can be carried by a ship or a cargo vessel.

For example, a cargo ship with a grain capacity of 50,000 metric tons can transport an enormous amount of goods, such as grain, coal, iron ore, or other bulk cargoes.
