Definition of Masthead

The masthead refers to the uppermost section of a ship’s mast. This area is often used to display various navigation equipment, such as navigation lights or signal flags.

For example, As the sun began to set, the crew raised the anchor and prepared to set sail. At the masthead, the lookout kept a watchful eye for any signs of danger on the horizon.
