A large marine vessel specifically engineered for the safe and efficient transportation of vast quantities of liquid hydrocarbons, commonly known as crude oil or fuel oil, in bulk.

For instance, an oil tanker with a capacity of 2 million barrels could transport enough crude oil to supply a medium-sized city for several weeks.
