Nautical Term: Dry bulk

Definition of Dry bulk

Dry bulk refers to cargo that is transported in a dry condition and in large quantities. Examples of dry bulk cargo include grain, such as wheat or corn, and industrial materials, such as cement or coal.

For instance, a shipping company might transport a large amount of wheat from the United States to Egypt. The wheat would be loaded into the cargo holds of the shipping vessel in a dry state, and it would be transported in bulk as dry bulk cargo.
