Nautical Term: Painting frames

Definition of Painting frames

The process of preparing and securing the frames in specific areas of a ship, such as the fore peak, is referred to as painting frames. These frames are often made of extra heavy materials, like steel, to withstand the constant pressure and movement, known as panting action, that comes from the shell plating of the ship.

For example: The frames in the fore peak of our cargo ship are an essential component of its structural integrity. As part of our routine maintenance, we ensure that these frames, which are often extra heavy to withstand the panting action of the shell plating, are properly painted and securely fastened in their positions.
