Nautical Term: SOF
Definition of SOF
Statement of Facts (SOF) refers to a document or section of a legal document that lays out the undisputed facts of a case. SOFs are typically used in pre-trial negotiations or plea bargains to help the parties involved reach a mutually acceptable resolution.
For example, in a civil lawsuit concerning a disputed real estate transaction, the parties may agree to a Statement of Facts outlining the undisputed facts of the case, such as the dates and terms of the real estate transaction, the parties’ signatures on the relevant documents, and any other objective facts that are not in dispute between the parties.
