Definition of Stowage factor
The stowage factor is a measure of the efficiency of cargo stowage on a ship. It represents the average cubic space required to accommodate one ton weight of cargo as stowed on board the vessel.
For instance, if a ship has a stowage factor of 0.6 cubic meters per ton, it would mean that one ton of cargo occupies an average of 0.6 cubic meters of space on the ship.
