Nautical Term: Stripping (unstuffing)
Definition of Stripping (unstuffing)
Stripping, also known as unstuffing, refers to the process of manually removing the contents of a container or a sack, typically on a ship or a dock.
For instance, suppose a cargo ship has arrived at the port with a container loaded with sacks of coffee beans. The stevedores on the dock would then perform the stripping process by carefully removing the sacks of coffee beans from the container, one by one. After the entire container has been stripped, the sacks of coffee beans would then be transported to the nearby coffee processing facility for further processing.
