Nautical Term: BENDS

Definition of BENDS

Bends specifically refer to the load and discharge ports of a vessel. In other words, the bends are the beginning and end points where cargo is loaded onto or discharged from a ship.

For instance, in a scenario where a cargo ship docks at a port to load agricultural produce, the bends would be the load port where the cargo is taken aboard and the discharge port where the cargo will eventually be unloaded and transported to its final destination.
