Definition of Carrier

A carrier, as defined in the context of a contract of carriage, refers to any individual or entity that assumes the obligation to carry out or arrange the execution of sea, inland waterway, rail, road, air, or a combination of such mode of carriage for the transportation of goods or passengers.

For instance, if a shipping company signs a contract with a client to transport their goods from one port to another, the shipping company is acting as a carrier in this transaction.
