Nautical Term: Deadrise
Definition of Deadrise
Deadrise refers to the transverse inclination of a boat’s hull bottom, extending from the keel to the bilge. In simpler terms, it’s the angle of the hull’s floor as it rises from the keel towards the sides of the boat.
For instance, if we’re comparing two identical fishing boats but with different deadrise angles, the boat with a higher deadrise angle would have better handling and stability in rough water conditions.
