Definition of HSSC

The Harmonised System of Survey and Certification (HSSC) is a standardized methodology adopted by maritime organizations for conducting surveys, issuing certificates, and maintaining records in compliance with international conventions and flag state requirements. For instance, during a vessel’s annual survey under the HSSC, the surveyor may inspect the condition of the vessel’s hull, machinery, and equipment, and issue a certificate confirming compliance with the relevant international conventions and flag state requirements.
