Definition of Landing craft

A landing craft is a specifically designed flat-bottomed and shallow-draft vessel. This type of watercraft is capable of beaching, allowing for the transfer of cargo or payload. The bow and/or stern ramp provide easy access for loading and unloading. For instance, during amphibious assaults, landing craft are used to transport troops and their equipment from ships to the shore.
