A mooring pipe is a vertical, hollow pipe installed on the side of a dock or vessel. It serves as an essential connection point for mooring lines, particularly hawse lines, ensuring a secure and stable mooring for boats and ships.
For instance, a large cargo ship enters a busy harbor to unload its goods. The ship’s crew secure hawse lines around the ship’s bow and pass the ends of the lines through the mooring pipes on the dock. This creates a solid connection between the ship and the dock, allowing the crew to safely unload the cargo.
