Nautical Term: Rise of bottom

Definition of Rise of bottom

occasions when the hull of a boat, particularly one with a deadrise hull angle, comes into contact with the water surface, lifting the boat slightly. This phenomenon is referred to as the rise of the bottom.

For instance, imagine a small fishing boat with a deadrise hull angle of 20 degrees. As this boat travels through the water, its hull comes into contact with the water surface, resulting in a slight lifting or rise of the bottom of the boat.
