Definition of SRBL
The maritime term ‘Signing and Releasing Bill of Lading’ (SRBL), refers to the process by which a shipper or consignee endorses and signs the Bill of Lading (B/L), releasing the cargo to the carrier for transportation. For example, when goods are shipped from the port of origin to the port of destination, the B/L issued by the carrier to the shipper or consignee will need to be signed and released by the shipper or consignee to the carrier, before the cargo can be loaded onto the ship for transportation.
