Nautical Term: Water-logged

Definition of Water-logged

A water-logged vessel is one that has taken on an excessive amount of water, yet remains afloat. For instance, during a storm at sea, a ship’s watertight compartments may fail, allowing water to flood the vessel. Despite this, the ship may still be able to limp back to port, albeit in a water-logged condition.
