Nautical Term: Bow linesb

Definition of Bow linesb

The term bow lines refers to the curves representing a vertical section of the bow end of a ship. It is important to note that similar curves found in the aft part of the hull are referred to as buttock lines.

For instance, during the mooring process, the sailor must secure the bow lines to the mooring bollard, while ensuring that the tension on the lines is just right to prevent the ship from swaying in the water.
