Definition of Deep tank
A deep tank refers to a fuel tank, or any other type of tank aboard a ship, which possesses a considerable depth. This depth usually extends beyond the interval of one ship’s deck.
For example, during the voyage of a modern container ship, the fuel consumption may exceed an impressive amount per day. To ensure an adequate fuel supply, the ship’s engineers and deck crew maintain a fleet of deep tanks in the ship’s fuel storage area. These deep tanks’ considerable depth and extensive capacity enable the ship to cover long oceanic distances without the need for frequent fuel stops at ports along the way.
