Definition of PCASP

Privately Contracted Armed Security Personnel (PCASP)): This term refers to private security personnel who are contracted by the vessel or boat owner to provide armed security services. PCASP may be deployed to deter piracy, protect high-value cargo, or secure VIPs or diplomats. For instance, a container ship sailing in the Gulf of Aden may hire PCASP to ensure the safe passage of the vessel and its cargo.
