Nautical Term: Forepeak bulkhead
Definition of Forepeak bulkhead
The Forepeak bulkhead is the structural partition located closest to the stem of a ship. This bulkhead forms the after boundary of the forepeak tank. When this bulkhead is extended from the bottom of the ship to the weather deck, it is also referred to as the collision bulkhead.
For example, in the event of a collision, the forepeak bulkhead, or collision bulkhead, is designed to absorb the impact and protect the ship’s crew and cargo from damage.
