Definition of Pontoon

A pontoon is a flat-bottomed, floating structure that is designed to have a shallow draught. Pontoons are commonly used as a foundation for various structures, such as docks, bridges, and even houses.

For example, The small fishing village of Marsh Harbour in the Bahamas relies heavily on its pontoon dock. The dock, which is built entirely on pontoons, stretches for over 1,000 feet and provides safe and easy access to the beautiful waters of the Bahamas.
