Definition of Log book
A log book refers to a continuous operating record kept by one of the ship’s officers. This record is a chronological account of all important events occurring on board the ship.
The log book entry includes details such as the condition of the weather, the ship’s position, and other relevant data. For instance, ‘June 15, 1820 – Fair weather, clear skies. The ship’s position is 40° 23′ N, 74° 37′ W. Our course and speed are 120° T, 7 knots.’
