Nautical Term: NON-REVERSIBLE
Definition of NON-REVERSIBLE
(Detention). If the loading process is finished before the scheduled completion time, then the saved days will not be added to the discharge time allowed for the ship. This rule is non-reversible, meaning that once the saved days are not added to the discharge time, the situation cannot be changed.
For example, if a ship was expected to take 10 days to load and discharge, but the loading process was completed in 8 days, then according to the non-reversible rule, the saved 2 days will not be added to the discharge time allowed for the ship.
